Nightsky Systems, Inc. was founded in 2004 to provide enabling analysis technologies for the next generation of space-based observing platforms. Based in Raleigh, NC, it serves clients across the United States, from government (NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and Jet Propulsion Laboratory), to academia (MIT and the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy), to industry.
Carl Blaurock is the founder and President of Nightsky Systems, Inc. Dr. Blaurock graduated from the MIT Aeronautics and Astronautics Department in 1997. Since that time, as a Principal Engineer for Midé Technology Corporation, Medford MA, he worked on acoustic control and ride control for Bell Helicopter Textron; acted as co-investigator for the Mid-deck Active Control Experiment (MACE) reflight to the International Space Station, and the NASA FLEX program to develop a zero-gravity robotics laboratory on-board the ISS. In addition he led the development of a polymer embedded battery for Smart Structures applications in composites, a self-powered wireless accelerometer, a Data Acquisition and Control platform based on a Texas Instruments C32 DSP, and a high performance switching amplifier for driving piezoelectric loads. He continues to work closely with the MIT Space Systems Laboratory headed by Professor David Miller, to commercialize technologies developed at the SSL.
